Joint replacement, also called Joint arthroplasty, is a surgical procedure in which the worn out or damaged surfaces of the joint is removed and replaced with an artificial prosthesis.

It is the ligament which provides stability to your knee joint. Most commonly injured ligament in Contact sports.

Hearing of “POP” sound at the time of injury. Sudden onset of pain and swelling. Instability of the knee joint while walking or running.

Put cold packs. Immobilize the knee joint by Long knee brace and analgesics will help reduce pain.

It is mainly by history and clinical examination. However MRI is the gold standard to diagnose.

Ideally It is done after three weeks, after swelling subsides and there is good range of movement. However it is done on emergency basis if there is bucket handle tear meniscus with locked knee.

It is Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction. It is a keyhole surgery, with minimum of one day of hospital stay.

Yes it is usually done under spinal anaesthesia. Patient will be awake and can visualise the full surgery on the monitor.

The next day after surgery you will be made to walk with brace and walker. You will not be bedridden after surgery. The whole motto of surgery is to mobilize you at the earliest.

For a minimum period of three weeks.
